About Us

Texas Informed is a nonpartisan civic news service covering North and East Texas, with weekly in-depth reporting on six core counties — Cooke, Collin, Denton, Grayson, Montague, and Wise — plus broader coverage across 31 Texas counties. Every story is sourced directly from public records, government meetings, and licensed local reporting.

Each week, subscribers receive a free email briefing covering county commissioners court votes, city council decisions, school board actions, and the public meetings coming up before they happen. Beyond the briefing, texasinformed.com gives residents direct access to their county's budget — broken down department by department, with the property tax math most counties don't put on a postcard — along with a searchable directory of every elected official representing them, from the county courthouse up through their state and federal representatives.

Ahead of Election Day, Texas Informed also publishes a free, nonpartisan ballot guide verified against each county's official sample ballot, plus a direct link to check your own voter registration status.

Texas Informed is published by Texas Informed LLC, headquartered in Gainesville, Texas, and funded in part by its Community Marketplace — local businesses who underwrite free, independent county reporting for their neighbors.
